Providing better care to patients should not require extra work
With so many Eating Disorders going undetected and untreated, our client, National Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders, wanted an app that would allow Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) to better detect Eating Disorders and conveniently refer them to specialists for further care.
Through our preliminary research, we found that PCPs want a convenient way to determine if their patient is at risk for developing an Eating Disorder. They did not want to spend much time having to make diagnostic decisions; they wanted the interface to guide them through the process of detecting and referring. We worked with the client to curate 13 persona dyads to illustrate the intricate relationship between a potential PCP and their patient. From here, we created user stories to highlight the main concerts, frustrations, or goals of the PCP in detecting Eating Disorders. This helped to list potential features for the website.
We then brainstormed various features that would be beneficial to the users. We focused on convenience, impact, and need. We created a Priority/Feasibility matrix to organize our ideas and illustrate which features should be tackled first. This allowed us to prioritize the long list we came up with.
Starting with the ideas in the “Do It Now” quadrant of the matrix above, we created wireframes to show the flow of information from one page to another. We underwent multiple iterations of wireframe design until the client was satisfied and it met all of the needs of the users. These wireframes were then used to build prototypes with color, images, and branding.
